Research Zone: Opportunities for Youth
GEM PROJECT: This unique Canadian research study will look at the Genetic, Environmental and Microbial footprint of Crohn’s disease. The objective of the GEM Project is to identify why some individuals develop Crohn's Disease and other do not. Through this study we hope to find the cause(s) or trigger(s) of Crohn's disease. Healthy siblings of individuals with Crohn's disease will be enrolled and followed over several years. The GEM Project aims to define how human genetics, environmental and microbial changes interact and contribute to the development of Crohn's disease.
