GEM PROJECT: This unique Canadian research study will look at the Genetic, Environmental and Microbial footprint of Crohn’s disease.The objective of the GEM Project is to identify why some individuals develop Crohn's Disease and other do not. Through this study we hope to find the cause(s) or trigger(s) of Crohn's disease. Healthy siblings of individuals with Crohn's disease will be enrolled and followed over several years. The GEM Project aims to define how human genetics, environmental and microbial changes interact and contribute to the development of Crohn's disease.
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada invite you to enroll in the GEM Project! Qualified candidates must be a sibling of a patient with Crohn’s disease. Candidates must be free of any symptoms that might suggest Crohn’s disease, have no history of diabetes, and be between the ages of 6-35 years of age.
